Ashley asked Kasie West:

Hey there! I love all of your books, especially the Pivot Point series, and I'm amazed at how fast you can whip out quality books. I'm curious as to if you have a writing process you go through when you begin a book, and since Pivot Point is more scifi, did you have a different writing process for that book? I'm trying to write my own book right now, but I don't exactly know where to start. Thanks! :)

Kasie West Thank you so much. I wish I had a magic writing answer for you. But I find that everyone writes so different. Even I write a little different for each book. But overall, I try to write my first draft fast. I go into it knowing the main conflict, the climax, and usually the ending. I generally know my characters pretty well--their strengths and weaknesses, what I hope the plot teaches them. But sometimes I find I don't know them as well as I thought I did and I discover things as I write. But other than those basic things, I just dive into the story trying to turn off my inner critic. Then after I'm done, I edit a lot. I let other people read it and edit some more. I let my agent read it and edit some more. I find the best thing I can do is really be open to making my story better and try not get offended by suggestions. I don't use all suggestions but if 2 or more people comment on something, I always work on that. Anyway, that's the way that works for me. You'll find the way that works best for you. Just keep at it. :)
