Anita asked A. Lee Martinez:

I very much enjoyed Divine Misfortune, it was the first of your works I've read, and, I plan to read as many of your other books that i can get my hands on! Do you have any favorite authors who write similar types of books with your brand of humor?

A. Lee Martinez I wish I had a good answer, but the truth, strange as it might be, is that I don't actually read a lot of "Funny" writers. I don't tend to enjoy them. I don't mean that as a slight to the many fine comic fantasy writers out there, but I consider myself more of a pulp fantasy writer who has some humor in his work.

My favorite writers tend not to be well-known for their humor. Edgar Rice Burroughs (creator of Tarzan) and Walt Simonson (a comic book writer) are not known for their humor. Although if you're willing to try something other than a novel, I enjoy both Boneyard by Richard Moore and Atomic Robo by Brian Clevinger. Both are weird fantasy, sci fi settings that have a lot of humor while being interesting stories in and of themselves.
