Brooke Norris asked this question about Somewhere in France (The Great War #1):
From the reviews, I hear that there is a sex scene in the book. Is this just one scene and very briefly? I ask because I don't like to read novels with a lot of such content...thanks!

The entire time I was reading the book, up until this scene, this question caused me to somehow "disrespect " the author, thinking that she was some kind of fool. Then when I read it, I just couldn't understand how anyone could read this book with the incredible events people suffered through and was so so well written and focus on THIS?
I mean no disrespect to the person who posed this question, but this book was about a lot more than one sex scene.

The writer has a Ph.D. in history and yet was able to tell the story in terms anyone could understand. The scene was meant to show how innocent Lilly was and, in spite of Robbie being a good man with honor, their love was so true and both needed comfort after the news they shared, that they succumbed to their feelings.

There was so much more about this book than this one tiny incident, and if anyone is so focused on that, I wonder if they understood this book at all. (I don't mean to make anyone who disagrees with me feel badly, but I was hurt on behalf of this outstanding author, so I had to respond.)(less)
