“We buy things we don't need with money we don't have to impress people we don't like.” This is from "Fight Club", right? Did he steal more from other writers, too, or does it have something really original in it that makes it worth to have a read?

Nathan Glenn I don't know that he has original catchy phrases like this one, but he does elaborate on the reality of this one at length. If you only want a collection of short phrases like that, you can just read proverbs. He quotes that quite extensively.

This book is not meaty, though. If you're curious then get it from a library and skim it in an evening. That's what I did!
Jack Actually, for the American society consumed and driven by debt, those lines should be repeated over and over. It seems as if some of us do not know how to control our drive to spend...
K Aust That phrase is older than Fight Club. The film came out in 1999 but I definitely had a keychain with that quote on it in middle school (mid-90s) lol
