Do or did you like being a fifth grade teacher? What books would you recommend? I can't read to somehow read The Eighth Day!

Dianne K. Salerni Hi, Kattris!

I did enjoy being a fifth grade teacher. But it was too hard to be a teacher and an author, so I gave up teaching full time last year. I still sometimes teach classes at a community college and this summer I will help teach in a summer reading program.

Some of my favorite books to use with my class were: No More Dead Dogs by Gordon Korman, Everlost by Neal Shusterman, Airborn by Kenneth Oppel, and A Drowned Maiden's Hair by Laura Amy Schlitz.

I also read some great books in the last year: The Five Kingdoms series by Brandon Mull, The Lockwood and Co series by Jonathan Stroud, Jackaby by William Ritter, The Luck Uglies by Paul Durham, and The Iron Trial by Holly Black and Cassandra Clare. As you can see, I read a lot of fantasy, adventure, and mystery!

If you do read The Eighth Day, I hope you let me know if you liked it!

All the best ~ Dianne
