When I first rode my bike to work here in Charlottesville several years ago, I passed a little street called Warren Lane, and I thought, "That's the title of my first book." I had no idea what the book would be about, and several years passed before I started writing it.
As to where the story came from, I have no idea. It wasn't something I pondered over. It came fully formed, all at once, like Athena, and the challenge was just being able to type fast enough to get it all down.
