Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Kate Preston The book is based on the premise: "What happens to super star athletes after they retire?" Most athletes retire when they're still young because of the beating the sport takes on their bodies. Tennis is a sport I know and follow so it was a good one for me to write about. So I invented a character who, at the top of his game was ranked #1 for three weeks. In tennis terms, it wouldn't make him "one of the greats" but it's enough that he would be well recognized. We meet him eight years into retirement, now out of the lime light. What has he been doing? Where is he going? How has he dealt with no longer being "the star"?
