What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Aaron Rath Write a lot. Read a lot, too, although you probably do that already. The trick is to not just read, but read with a critical eye. Read once to enjoy it, and reread to analyze it once you're not absorbed in the story. Read things similar to what you're writing to see how another author handles it. Read things very different from what you're writing for variety and cross-pollination of ideas. Then remember that there's only so much you can learn by watching someone else, and go back to writing again, because that's where the best experience comes.
