Just start. If you have a need to express yourself do it. Although It is important to have the educational skills that let you put your emotions into a novel that readers will enjoy. That doesn't mean that you need a degree in anything, so long as you can comfortably, grammatically, and fluidly articulate your emotions in the written word.
