When do you draw your maps? I'm wondering if you physically sat down first and drew a map of the different locations or if it just began to emerge as you wrote.

Peter Kazmaier In the early days of The Halcyon Dislocation, the only maps I could draw were hand drawn or Power Point-based maps. Now I have software (which I'm still learning) called Campaign Cartographer. For The Halcyon Dislocation, other than the island, the maps were drawn after the text was written (my first edition only had the island map). For The Battle for Halcyon, the maps and the book were developed together. For my third book, Descent Into Abaddon, which I'm writing now, the maps (excepting the details) preceded the plot.
