Katherine Verm I read this book when I was 12. There is killing... Most of it is not detailed and none of it is too gory. Really any age above 12 would be perfect.
Amy I read this book when I was 10. It was great! There are no bad parts what so ever. Even the killing, not bad at all!
Keilah Granito Mostly teens. There is a lot of creepy things. Like killing...
Ray-ray It depends. If you are an advanced reader, go ahead at age 10. But, I recommend reading it at age 12 or 13. By then you should be able to understand what's happening, grasp the material, and know what some of the meanings are.
Mare J I would say anyone above 12, since there's a lot of killing and cruelty. But I think even (grand)parents would most definitely like the book.
mayla ray I read this book when i was eleven, there is killing and violence, but it isnt as detailed and gory as it is in the second book, I recommend the tween/ teen age group 10-14 but it depends if your child is sensitive around violence or gore.
Audrey Mika I read it in third grade... lol I was mature.
Zoe I read this book when I was 9 and I found it fine for me, But I am an advanced reader so I would recommend it for 11 and up.
Leticia Porter I had only just turned 12 when I read these books. I didn't find it too scary or mature. It's not detailed deaths and they aren't gory so people aren't getting their limbs cut off or anything. I never winced at any of the deaths. 12 is my recommended age.
Mlionsteel17 i'm 10 and i'm reading the first one but just because it has mild violence doesn't make it 13+,i mean like the first movie thats PG but the others are PG13 so i would say that the first book is 9+ and the others are 12+
Alexandra I would say 11 and up, ten or even nine if they can handle violence and are advanced readers.
Orlando Alexander

KJ taylorton I was an advanced reader and mature at the age of 10
Mia I suggest not to read it if you are 9 or younger because it has a lot of killing in it since the whole concept of the book is about that. You also have to be mature enough to understand the idea of it otherwise you won't enjoy it at all. You need to be old enough to understand that there is more to it then just killing people for entertainment. Some people could say that it was disturbing due to the killing and others say that it was disturbing due to the concept. Everyone has different opinions. But either way it is an amazing book since the whole concept is really emotional and heart breaking. It is a wonderful book that looks at power in society as well as a bit of romance.
Bumblebee426 i read this book when i was 10 and i loved it but there is a lot of killing
Hannah Lang I read this book when I was 11 and i thought that it was very approprite because they never get really into the deaths. She really just talks about Katniss and how she survives.
Lauren Lemont Considering the minor romance included, plus the rather violent descriptions of the killings, I would think it's okay for 10+, but if you really want to understand the entire book (dialogue, romance, etc.) I would wait a few more years.
Hesiona It looks like very young people read these books and like them. Why? What attracts them so much, what do you think?
Em I read it when I was 9 and it was instantly my favorite book. But most people would say reading it around age 12 is best. There's a lot of death, gore, trauma, just mature things in general.
Ania I read it at 11. SO OBSESSED I LOVE IT but yes lots of death and a teensy bit of torture.
Panda22 Read it when I was 11, but I was pretty mature, so it depends I guess on the person. There's nothing TOO extreme, but there is some violence and a some gore, so overall i'd say 12+ but it depends on the person!
Rowan. Depends on the maturity level. It has plenty of violence (I mean, it's the entire plot of the story) and relatively detailed descriptions of injuries and killings. There are also some kisses but nothing graphic or explicit. I'd say 10+ or 11+, but like I said it depends on the maturity levels. Hope this helped!
Florence I read them after just turning 12 but maybe 10+.
Then again I am 13 and a horror fan!
If you haven't read at least the first one (best in my opinion)i am begging you please please read it! Probably one of my favourite books ever.
xoxo.mackenzie I would say 10 and up. But yeah, it depends on what you can handle. If you know you can't handle a lot of killing, than I would wait until 12 or 13. It is a really good book, though.
Mimitza7 I read it when i was 10. It's not really creeepy, and personally I didn't find it violent
Isabel I honestly think is for mature readers such as 14+ years. There is lots of violence and gore. I recommend not reading it until you are at least 13 years old.
Anna Bauer I read it when I was eight or nine, I would say it's fine for anyone above 9. Also note a was a very advanced reader so I could comprehend the story more, but if the kid can understand the deeper meaning, great. It's a great story no matter what, I think.
Laylacastions i mean i knew about cussing and sexy stuff when i was 9 but more likely 10 and up but if your younger and mature then you can i guess it depends
sarah It's meant for teenagers but good for mature tweens. I'd say 11-13+
Ojas I agree that if you read the book at age 10 you might be able to grasp it if you pay attention to every detail.
Mandy I read the books when I was 12-13 and I loved them. They were amazing books that are well written. There are some Killing scenes but they are not gory. I loved the way all of the topics were written. It is a great book for teenagers
Lucy Adrama I read it when I was eight and I was completely fine, but some would say I was a very mature kid,
_heyitsnatalie I am a pretty advanced reader and I read all three when I was 11, and my friend was 10 when she read it, but some people in my grade were definitely not mature enough. It doesn't really go into detail, but teenagers will probably understand the Katniss/Peeta romance thing better.
Rebekah Hi! Please check out my review as i do a feature on all the books i read discussing how much sex or violence is in book. Thanks!
niamh read it when i was 11 and wasnt fazed but depends on yourself
Red_Queen_Lover I also read this book when I was twelve as a class.I think that in the end when Cato's death is explained, would be considered the most gory since it was more gory than the movie.Other than that it is a good series for anyone 10/11+ depends on the person reading it
