There were some ghostly entities and such in the book, but I don't feel this is Nevill's best effort at writing a story that has real chills. I'd read his book The Ritual for that. If you want creepy ghosts and such...I'd recommend Peter Straub's Ghost Story, or Stephen King's The Shining.(less)
