Goodreads asked Mary Relindes Ellis:

What’s the best thing about being a writer?

Mary Relindes Ellis I'm not sure how to answer that. I haven't had a bestseller so I can't say money! What I do find wonderful is that when I do research for a novel, even a contemporary one, it adds to my informal education. For instance, I learned so much about World War I in researching for The Bohemian Flats. I learned alot about the Vietnam War because of my first novel. I love when writing is going along well and it feels as though I am in the world of the novel so completely I don't care if I haven't showered, or look like hell. I'm in the moment and that's a wonderful place to be.
