Rachna asked Rick Riordan:

I first read your books when I was 10 and now I’m 26 - time flies! Do you have any advice around being in situations where you really want to do something but keep getting distracted/find some reason to procrastinate, and how to cut through the noise and focus?

Rick Riordan The best I can tell you is that you are not alone. This is the main struggle of every writer. As far as I can tell, there are no short cuts or secret tricks. You just have to power through the best you can. Everybody is always too distracted to write, myself included. One thing that might help is to try finding the time of day when you are most productive, and the environment in which you can best write. That isn't always possible to do, and everyone is different, but it does help, for instance, if you can identify the times and places that seem to work best for you. For me, it tends to be early morning in my living room, maybe with some quiet instrumental music playing.
