How do you write courageously about your spiritual experiences, like you did in "The Bridge Across Forever"?

Good question. When the editors at the publisher read the first draft they did not much care for the person I was on the pages. "Is there anything about you," they said, "that a reader might like?"
"Hmm." I said. "I'm nice to raccoons..."
So the paragraph about the raccoons, and given them marshmallows when I was barnstorming, that was inserted in the beginning.
I think if a writer confesses some difficult truths about himself or herself, I think that most readers will say, "Not good. But I'm still reading."
Some, of course, close the book forever.

When I was in my teens, I came across Illusions. I wrote to you (sending a letter to the book pubs,) saying that there was not a chance in a million that I could be in a plane like that ...to my huge surprise, a year or two later, you wrote back.... saying "Maybe there's not a chance in a milllion but, maybe its a chance in 2 million".... that chance in 2 has come through. I still have the card. can I show you?

Richard, I run a theatre group in England (www.stagelefttheatre.co.uk) and as part of Leicester's Everybody's Reading Festival for 2019 we would love to present a reading of Jonathan Livingston Seagull. This would we be done by a number of people from our group, with people narrating and representing the various voices of characters in the story. Would you allow us to do this? All festival perfromances are free.
