Goodreads asked C.K. Johnson:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

C.K. Johnson I’ve got some fun habits as strong as the baseball player that won’t wash his socks for fear of losing his winning streak (but less smelly). 1) Got to have a candle. I light it before I start and blow it out when I stop (I go through a lot of candles). 2) Music- yes, I’ve got to listen to music or the writing gets stuck. The music is different according to the project but there must be something. (If I’ve got music, I’m less likely to get distracted by other sounds) 3) Treats- there must be a bowl of something: chocolate, sometimes fruits or veggies, but snacks must be present (this prevents me from getting up to find something and never coming back). It’s my magic writer’s block cure for myself. As long as I have these three things- I don’t get stuck.
