Just curious, have you met Brandon Sanderson? You mention him as one of your influences and from reading yours and his books, it seems like your writing styles and perspectives are very compatible. Do authors ever collaborate? That would be something.

I haven't, though I'd love to one day - of all the authors out there, he's the one I'd be most excited to meet. Hopefully the next time he's in Melbourne I'll get a chance to say hello.
Yeah, I've seen fantasy authors collaborate before (the Raymond Feist / Janny Wurts 'Empire Trilogy' comes to mind), but it doesn't seem to happen often. Particularly in this genre, I can imagine it'd be a fair amount of work to keep characters, magic system, history and world completely consistent. Still, it's also something I could see being a lot of fun, so who knows? A lot of things would have to go awfully right for that sort of thing to happen, but never say never and all that...

James Islington:
Hi James! My question pertains to Ashalia from Licanius. Without getting into any specific spoilers, I wanted to say that I greatly enjoyed that she always seemed to do the cleverest thing in every scenario, finding smart, efficient solutions to her problems—basically, everything I as the reader was rooting for her to do. How did you go about balancing that competency with keeping her character grounded?

Hi James! I love your books and am SO excited for the release of The Strength of the Few. This question is about the cover designs of the Hierarchy books. I saw that in a previous Q&A session, you said that there's a possibility of some sort of workaround for those of us who bought copies of TWOTM with the original design and would like future editions to match. Do you have any update?
