It definitely is. This is my only job. But for many authors it can take time to work up to that level (it's why they say, "don't quit your day job" when you sell your first book).
Really, the reason to be a writer is "because you love writing"--not the money. You can make money doing it, but there are a LOT of easier ways to earn a living. So if you're just looking for a way to pay your bills, there are better options.
But if story is in your soul and you can't imagine not writing, keep at it, work hard, and hopefully some day you'll have books on the shelves. :)

Hehe, I've been wondering about this for a long time. :) (may or may not be a confusing question) It sorta seems like Foxfire has a lot of students, and they all basically have the same teachers, but the classes are one-on-one. (most of the time) So how do the teachers teach everybody by the end of the school day? :))
