What was the route for the Cape Ann train? Is Rockport Lodge real? I especially enjoy your novels that are set there.

I don't know the exact route, but I do know that there were trains all over the North Shore and many ran from Boston. Prior to the triumph of personal automobiles, you could travel around Cape Ann on trains. Too bad we lost that option.

Hi Anita! I am a more recent fan, just finished reading The Boston Girl and loved it. Now I am going back to read your others. I adore historical fiction. My question: I see many correlations or maybe coincidences in The Boston Girl's Addie Baum and your life. (ex:Addie becomes a columnist, writes on child labor). Do you often incorporate your life and hopes into your characters?

I read The Red Tent this summer and fell in love with it. I recently started doing some bible studies, and every time I start I think of your book. Every time I think of it, a pang of deep emotion runs through my heart. I have a big family too, and to imagine loosing them the way Dinah did is heart breaking. This is absolutely my favorite book. Thank you!! How did you decide to start writing about Dinah?
