Goodreads asked Duncan MacLeod:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Duncan MacLeod Take a typing class. Try to learn as much as you can about grammar. It's the paintbrush that helps you create the world. Words are paint. It doesn't matter whether you can touch type or split an infinitive intentionally; you have to write. Don't aspire; write. Write without stopping to correct yourself - there's time for that after the first draft is finished.
