Most of the other movies left out the more messed up stuff, but in this case the movie added more messed up stuff that wasn't in the book. In the book Bart despises Cindy, completely. They hate each other. They do not get together or kiss.

They also leave out one of the main characters, Joel, who is Corrine's brother who was though to have died. A major character in the book that pulls Bart's puppet strings much like John Amos did. (less)
