How do you deal with writer’s block?

Stephen S. Power I have dozens of ideas that haven't come together into stories yet. Some have an interesting character, such as Copper Jenny the Steam Witch and her familiar Kettle, but no story. Some have stories, but no good perspective on the events. Others have characters with stories, but I don't know what form the story will take: chronicle of a journey, a letter or address, some sort of report, etc. I put them aside and move on to something else, periodically going back to them to see if anything strikes me.

Often, if I'm looking for something to write, I'll set myself a challenge, such as "no one gets blown up." These can make me rethink old ideas or develop new ones.
