I have two pieces of advice. #1 Keep a journal, keep a blog, write whatever calls to you, but don't stop, and don't let anyone tell you you shouldn't write.
And #2, which I've said more than once: always have a notepad with you. If you're walking or shopping, keep one in your purse or pocket. (I have a water bottle carrier that has a pouch.) Also make sure you have something at your bedside. You'd be surprised how even the most brilliant thought disappears come the dawn.
