Lyn Millner
Lyn Millner asked Amy Stewart:

I just began reading "The Earth Moved," as inspiration and a possible model for something I'm working on. I'm really enjoying it so far. What books can you recommend that inspired you while you were writing it? Thanks!

Amy Stewart Hi! In terms of the writing itself, I was very inspired by anything by Mary Roach, anything by Sue Hubbell, and E.B. White's book ONE MAN'S MEAT. That last one probably sounds like a weird addition, but there is something so beautiful and clear about how E.B. White writes about life in the country, and it just somehow grounded me and calmed me down and got me thinking about the writing in a better way.

Oh, and of course, Michael Pollan's BOTANY OF DESIRE and Susan Orleans' ORCHID THIEF are great examples. Good luck!
