I too am really looking forward to the next release- whenever you get it to us.... But my question is about Danny. I loved his character in the book and wondered what inspired this perfect "armadillo" of a father figure? Your book struck so many good notes for me but the sense of family from this unrelated group was simply the best! I've just become another fan!

Thank you so much! I love your description of Danny as an 'armadillo' father figure because that's exactly what he is. Although he'll kill me for saying this, a lot of Danny is inspired by my own Dad. I remember that all the kids in our street used to be scared stiff of him when we were growing up and if one of the kids was unlucky enough to knock for one of my brothers during meal times (family meal times around the table were sacred!) then he'd literally just open the door and growl, chasing them away! Having said that, he's one of the kindest and most generous people that I know and has spent the last twenty years trying to help kids like O'Connell. :)
