Goodreads asked Warren C. Easley:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Warren C. Easley There's a momentum associated with the craft of writing. When you feel blocked or uninspired, keep writing anyway, even if it seems like crap. This will help you get back on track, and there will be time enough to edit the rough parts. The story is in there dying to come out! Long walks are also good for me when the next plot point isn't coming. Make the walk (or run) long enough that your monkey mind quiets down before you start to think about the next step...And most important of all in my view, finish your project! Gain the experience of the entire process from inception to final edits. If it doesn't measure up, put it in a desk drawer and move on!
