The best advice I ever got about writing was: "If you're going to be a successful writer, you have to write every day." That came from my friend Nelson DeMille, who's a pretty damn good writer--and a prolific one. It doesn't matter if you write a couple of sentences or 5,000 words--by writing every day, you get in a good groove, good habits, and you never have to worry about getting "inspired."
