Goodreads asked Elliott Kay:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Elliott Kay I honestly haven't gotten this a whole lot. That's not to say it can't happen, of course, but I can't think of a time where I was really blocked. I fight against distraction all the time--I have a pretty large circle of friends and a busy social life. It's all too easy to let myself get pulled away from writing by doing chores around the house or by this or that entertainment outlet.

Naturally, I get stumped by problems with a given story, though. That's not exactly a "block," but it does bring things to a halt. When that happens, I try to switch to writing something else, even if I have no real plans for it. That's exactly how the Good Intentions series happened. I was stumped on a minor issue in Poor Man's Fight and didn't know where to go with it. My girlfriend suggested I write something else for a while. Clearly that worked out pretty well for me!
