You get better with practice and experience. If you think you aren't good enough, you are both right and wrong, because you're always good enough to get started and you will almost certainly get better with time. But that only happens if you actually start writing and keep at it.
Also remember that pretty much everything has an audience. You might not have anyone in your circle of friends who wants to read an alternate history of the American Revolution with George Washington re-cast as a Tyrannosaurus Rex, but SOMEONE out there is dying for it. Seriously. If nobody else is, I am!
