Goodreads asked Mark O. Purifoy:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Mark O. Purifoy My most recent book, Adolescent and Sovereign, is an original piece. I can't say that there is anything remotely close to it. It was when I was in 11th grade that I came up with the idea of rogue teenagers, fighting to become a part of something big. I started on a book with that idea, but I was never able to finish it. Several years later, in my freshman year of college, I chose to take that idea and alter it. Instead of rogue teenagers, I chose to make young people special, make them brilliant and powerful. With our generation, I believe it is what young people need, a story that says we can be great. We don't have to be troublemakers, alcohol drinkers, failures. We can rise and be better than others' stereotypes of us.
