First off, absolutely loved your debut novel, and you better be ready because its gonna be big. And I have two questions: 1. How difficult was it to write this book and how long did it take you? 2. Are you working on anything else I can get my hands on relatively soon? Congrats in advance for the success and the amazingness of the book.

Thank you so much - I am so glad you loved it! To answer your questions:
1. It's funny - in some ways, this book wrote itself. It was definitely a project that completely absorbed me, and I don't think there are ever any shortcuts when it comes to writing a novel. However, Simon was such a pleasure to write. I seriously enjoyed the process with all my heart (second book has been much more of a challenge, so I appreciate Simon a lot these days!). All things considered, it took me about 4-5 months to draft, and another month to revise.
2. I am! I'm currently finishing up rewrites for the second book in my two-book-deal with Balzer+Bray, which will hopefully be released in 2016. :-D

Reading the book, I had the feeling that Taylor was queer herself (not necessarily gay, just not straight), since she had such a powerful reaction to Simon being bullied. Did you do it on purpose? Was it your intention to raise a doubt or make the readers wonder about it?
