Goodreads asked Colin Campbell:

What’s the best thing about being a writer?

Colin Campbell I love the freedom of being able to share a story or a message without the concern of limitations that are sometimes imposed by other forms of media. Television and film are two examples of story telling that require large budgets to produce and a great deal of effort to distribute your story to an audience. Writing however is a simple art form of expression - all you need is a piece of paper and a pen. Words are free - both figuratively and in the larger sense. The personal absorption of words and how they effect different people in different ways is both powerful and exciting. Good writers can entertain, inspire, make people laugh, and make people think. For a moment, books can transport us away from our ever day routines and take us to places, events and times otherwise out of reach. To be a writer and have the limitless opportunity to do all of these things is a privilege and is what I enjoy most.
