I'm curious about your process. Would you say you usually locate an historical event/time that interests you and THEN start looking for someone who lived during it, or is it more often the case you read about someone and then research what was going on during that particular person's lifetime?

Both, frankly. Every idea springs from a different aquifer.

I just finished Thunderstruck which I completely enjoyed. I noticed when reading it that you referred to the Lusitania a few times (in the story and also in the notes) and was wondering if you used some of your research for Thunderstruck in the writing of your new book or do you just start over researching for a book?
