Goodreads asked Laura Perry:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Laura Perry I have a really short attention span, so I rarely work for more than an hour at a time without a break. If I get stuck, I stop writing and go do something else. Writing is such an intellectual activity, I like to shift to doing a really physical activity like gardening or cleaning the house. That allows my brain to shut off for a little while instead of continuously fighting against whatever blockage I'm trying to deal with. Often, while I'm focusing on pulling weeds or mopping the floor, an idea will just pop into my mind that solves the problem I was facing. It's not a failsafe method by any means but it works more often than not.
