Yes, a very simple bit of advice: Write. Just do it. And do it every day. Because if you wait for inspiration, you'll never get anywhere. But if you're there at your desk, day in, day out, seven days a week--and I do mean seven--inspiration will come looking for YOU.

Dear Mr. Larson, What can you tell us about efforts to bring any of your works to the big screen? I would think your stories would translate very naturally and effectively to film, and, according to a search of IMDB, there are a couple of projects in development. Understanding the complexity of such translation, is this something you would welcome and feel can do justice to your books?

"Isaac's Storm" captivated me. I go to Galveston often. I still get a heartbroken feeling every time I pass by Walmart & think of the orphans & nuns. I swam from the seawall at low tide, full moon & out at least a hundred yards & could still find a sandbar to stand on. Isn't that what Isaac said would make it invulnerable to hurricanes? "In the Garden of the Beasts" was great! They would both make excellent films.
