Hailey Morgan
Hailey Morgan asked Laurie Halse Anderson:

how do you come up with the ideas for your books most adults tend to ignore the big problems that teens face? how can you write so vividly of these things?

Laurie Halse Anderson I think that I remain sensitive to what teens have to overcome because I struggled so much (family issues and depression) as a teenager. What felt like weakness then has become my strength now.

I've met a number of adults who have buried their own adolescent struggles. They've never dealt with the situations and emotions of those years. Sadly, these are the adults who tend to be very dismissive and clueless when it comes to dealing with teenagers. Maybe I should write a book for them...
