You are right, she was surprised and always doubted who Royce loved the most. She can't read her own future...it's only others that she can do that for. She "interprets" and "speculates" on her own future based on those events of the people close to her. But I think more than anything, it's what she wanted most in life, and the thought that she could actually obtain that distinction was "too much to hope for." Also, she is not always 100% accurate. A future may change on other events. For instance if she were to one day betray Royce, then that could most certainly change that outcome. I'm glad to be able to give Gwen the thing she wanted most. She deserved it, in my humble opinion.
