I'm so sorry I missed your question for so long, but I did. It makes sense to me although I've not heard of it, only observed it. We have grass under our apple trees which I cut periodically. Last year there were baby garden snakes everywhere and one of them found its way under the lawn mower. Poor little thing was ripped apart. Within minutes it was covered with yellow jacket wasps and by the next day it was completely devoured. Until they completed their work, I could find the snake's body by following the wasps.
