Aathira asked Amy Harmon:

First & foremost, I adore your writing. I would like to know how you came to use the native american mythology in your books (I saw a similar question, but I was wondering if you can be a little more elaborate. Because I love those stories so freaking much). Do you have experience with them? And what are your sources for those stories? Will you consider about writing a story that actually takes place in a reservation?

Amy Harmon Hi Aathira, I live in a state rich with Native American heritage. I taught a unit on Native American history when I used to teach school, and it was one of my favorite subjects to share with the kids. I have written two books that include some of the stories/legends of many Native American people. The legends vary a little, depending on the tribe, but they are fairly universal, like some of the stories that have been passed down in my own cultures and have variations throughout different parts of the world. I don't think I will write a book that only takes place on a reservation, though Running Barefoot has a lot of reservation life in it.
