I wanted to write a book about superpowers, but not about superheroes.
And no, thank goodness, but Victor is--for better or worse--a version of myself. Probably the closest to an autobiographical character (as far as psychological profile) that I've ever written. I grew up feeling like an outsider, and a bit of a social mimic, so really wanted to write a protagonist who didn't fit into the world around him.
