How do you deal with writer’s block?

Gennifer Choldenko Carpenter's don't have carpenter's block. They just suit up and show up. That's the model I follow. When I'm having trouble, it's usually a sign that I need to do more research. Research might be: going to the place the book takes place, interviewing people who have been through what I'm writing about, reading more books on a topic, sitting in on a classroom. I need to pour information into my head, for the words to flow out of my fingers.
