Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Gennifer Choldenko The rats made me do it!
I got the idea for CHASING SECRETS from a nonfiction book about rats: RATS: OBSERVATIONS, ON THE HISTORY & HABITAT OF THE CITY'S MOST UNWANTED INHABITANTS by Robert Sullivan. Chapter 16 talked about a plague outbreak in San Francisco IN 1900. As soon as I read that chapter, I knew I'd write a novel about this.
