Writing is putting yourself in your chair and doing it. Lol. But on a more serious note, I usually research for months, then write an outline before actually typing chapter one. And once I start I try really hard to write every day (well, almost every day) until I've finished that first draft. Which, by the way, is usually pretty crappy.
