It wasn't the graphic descriptions of sexual assault (though, in my opinion, they were indeed very graphic) It was the hopelessness and the sadness that permeated the entire novel. I would not recommend it to anyone struggling with their own mental health or caring for someone with mental health issues. I found it almost physically painful and I think it will stay with me for a very long time.(less)
