I was curious if you'd perhaps worked in social work (social services, I think they call it in England!), or a similar field, as you show a great deal of knowledge, understanding and empathy of the care system and damaged young people. Did you take it from your own work experience (as it seems so real!) or did you research it?

Hi Linda, I've never worked in Social Care, my background is in Security!! I think the knowledge comes from listening and reading factual books over the years together with personal emotion. I think we have all felt neglected and lonely at times either in childhood or as adults and this was what I wanted to portray. Thank you for your question which is a huge compliment. X

I bought the first one of these by chance after seeing it on display, didn't even realise they were set reasonably close to home. Absolutely hooked now, read the first 5 and number 6 is ready to go. Love the characters, love the plots, hope there are plenty more to come. Plus I hope we haven't seen the last of Alex, Kim's "Moriarty" ??

HI!!! I relate to Kim so much I am an officer, a female motorbike rider and someone who didn't have a very good upbringing (not as bad as kim though). I find myself delving into these books so deep that I have been made to cry and laugh and this is how I know you are an amazing writer ♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡. Do you ride a motorbike?
