Goodreads asked Susan F. Pruitt:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Susan F. Pruitt I had a very vivid dream. When I woke up I felt like I had actually gone to the place. My first thought was, "Wow! That would make a great movie!" After writing it down, I emailed it to a close friend. She was floored by it as well. In speaking with her, I made the remark that it would make a good book. I hadn't really written anything other than a short story in high school and a couple of children's stories when my kids were young. So I had no idea who was going to write this book that I couldn't stop thinking about. Finally, one day I thought, if I were going to write this, how would I start? I had a whole "vision" of the book right then. The title, the plot, pretty much everything for the first 2 or 3 books of the series. The words poured from me, I couldn't stop if I wanted to. It has been an amazing experience.
