I'm looking forward to reading Dead Wake. What about this particular piece of history interested you enough to write a book about it?

I've always loved maritime subjects--maybe it's the Scandinavian in me. I also like pillaging small European villages, which no doubt arises from my Viking past. But really, once I started reading about the Lusitania I saw an opportunity to construct a narrative in a way that my other books did not invite--more a study in real-life historical suspense. I got to put on my Hitchcock hat.

Erik: I am a big fan of your work and look forward to reading Dead Wake. A few years ago the UKs Daily Mail reported that divers had explored the Lusitania wreck and found that the ship was carrying secret war material as the Germans had alleged all the time. Carrying the war material lead some to believe that it was a valid target. Does your book address this find and opinion? Thank you again for your work.

Hi Mr. Larson, The sinking of the Lusitania has always intrigued me. My question is: Is there any truth to the story that any rich and important people planning to be on that ships fateful crossing were warned to stay stateside because President Wilson was under pressure from "Wall St." to get the US into a war?
