How much do you plan out your chapters/scenes before you write them?

Shannon Messenger Depends on the chapter. If it's an action heavy chapter, or a pivotal scene I'll spend a little time planning out how it'll work. If it's a smaller scene I'll try to just let it unfold without too much thought. Usually comes out fresher that way.
