You choose some very human and interesting incidents and people from history to write about. What interests or catches your eye in particular about the history you've written that compels you to write about them?

Erik Larson It's hard to quantify. I know a good story when I see it. The trouble is, I don't see all that many good stories. To work as a book an idea has to meet a variety of vital criteria. It's a tough bar for most ideas to reach.
