Thank you, Maya! Besides getting inspiration from the fairy tales I'm retelling, I suppose I get inspired by my own life experiences, books and movies I've enjoyed, and maybe I even get divine inspiration from God! I don't think authors usually even know or remember where their inspiration came from. Ideas just kind of pop into our heads and then develop as we ask ourselves, What if this happened? Or what if that happened? Or what if he . . . ? What if she . . .?

Hola, Melanie! I've enjoyed your books (unfortunately I've only read two) and I was wondering when you started writing. I will be 17 in a couple months and I enjoy writing, but I've never quite finished a book and sometimes it's challenging. Was it easy writing your first book? And do you have any tips? (Oh, and Mulan would be a cool story, if you ever want to write it, but I'll leave that up to you and God) Thanks!!
